Nothing springs to mind other than Notch, but it's not free (and I'm sure there's a lot more options in paid vjay software). Otherwise Winamp/milkdrop still seems unbeatable - frankly I'm surprised there aren't more options for live video 'synthesis'. Maybe one day when I don't have to work for 'the man' I will make this into a plugin I can share. Here's a video I posted to show it in action: What I can tell you is that I learnt a lot from and implemented a open GL class for displaying shader code that I adapted from - and managed to hook up various visual parameters directly into my synth engine - so you could use LFO/envelopes etc to directly modulate the shader. and ended up developing a visualizer for a modular synth engine I developed for work - unfortunately I can't share the build or the code since it's effectively 'owned' by the big company I work for in my day job.
